Your First Assignment

Now that you know all about social networking, I'll give you an assignment. There's a visit involved... to each of the popular networking sites used by business.

• Visit my page on LinkedIn to see what a typical page looks like. My LinkedIn address is

• Set up a LinkedIn account and add me to your network.
• Visit http://www.twitter.com/ and set up an account. Do a search for a business, person or organization that you know and click "follow" to follow their updates. Wait a day or so and make a note of what happens--do they send you a welcome or thank you? If you cannot think of anything or anyone to search for, try "Chicago Art Institute" or "New York Times" and see how they use Twitter to stay in touch with their markets.
